چکیده

Four-level (quaternary) signalling in optical communication systems is investigated and the optimisation of quaternary signal level spacing is carried out considering signalamplified spontaneous emission beat noise dominance. The optimised quaternary signal is propagated through an optical dispersive fibre and sensitivity improvements can be found for shorter transmission distances and non-zero extinction ratio.

Simulation and Analysis the Performance of 3970 Km DWDM Transmission Link Employing Optimized Semiconductor Optical Amplifiers

In this paper first we try to analysis the behavior ofthe SOAs in the optical networks and then have proposed anumerical simple model to simulate the behavior of thesemiconductor optical amplifiers. After that by employing thismodel as inline amplifier for a DWDM optical system, we havesimulated the transmission of 10 channels with bit rate 10 Gb/sup to distance 3970 km with RZ-DPSK modulation ...

Suppression of Four Wave Mixing Based on the Pairing Combinations of Differently Linear-Polarized Optical Signals in WDM System

Data transmission in optical systems and increased transmission distance capacity benefit by using optical amplification wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) technology. The combination of four waves (FWM) is a non-linear effect in the wavelength division multiplex (WDM), when more than two wavelengths of light in a fiber launch will occur. FWM amount depends on the channel, the channel spaci...

Performance Analysis of WDM Optical Communication System in the Presence of Four Wave Mixing (FWM) Under the Impact of Channel Spacing with Variable Dispersion

Four Wave Mixing (FWM) is the parameter which restricts the transmission distance and bandwidth of optical communication systems. There are various factors which influence FWM, such as channel input power, spacing between channels, dispersion of fiber, operating wavelength and refractive index etc. The nonlinear effects tend to manifest themselves when optical power is very high and become impo...

LMS Electrical Filters to Reduce Intersymbol Interference in Direct Detection Optical Systems

Intersymbol interference in direct detection optical systems can limit the channel spacing in frequency division multiplexing systems, and limit data rates and transmission distances in long distance transmission systems. We present minimum mean-square-error electrical filters to compensate for optical intersymbol interference. The performance of these filters is compared with a matched filter ...
